Circut City

I remember my first trip to buy electronics at the store. I was a teenager and had been saving my money from odd jobs here and there. Like many teenage boys, I was crazy for loud music. I always felt it calmed me down and put me in a good mood. Like most parents, my parents did not like how loud I played it. I can actually remember the neighbors asking me to turn my music down because their baby could not sleep on a summer night when all the windows were open. My stereo was simply up too high. At any rate, my friends wanted to go skiing out west and asked me to go along. I REALLY wanted to go. But my parents said that I would have to pay for the trip myself. I had the money. But as I looked at the stereo components that that money would buy, I quickly decided not to ski - and to buy a new stereo instead. Thus, my first trip to the electronics store to get a brand new stereo, tape deck, cd player and speakers. The chain at the time was SILO. I doubt many will remember them. But I think they were one of the earlier big-box stores that are so common now. But in the early 1980's they were not so common. So I took my savings to the electronics store and bought an entire stereo set. I must say, it was a great decision. To buy electronics instead of a ski trip. And it started my love affair with the electronics store that is still strong 20 years later.
